English Language Pathway Programs

 

The Intensive English Program (IEP) at the University of Mississippi 

  • International undergraduate students who meet the University’s academic admission requirements but not the English language proficiency requirement may apply to be conditionally admitted.
  • Conditionally admitted students take English language classes at the IEP until they reach the needed proficiency for admission to a degree program.
  • Students may then provide evidence of English proficiency b:
    • Completing the IEP’s Advanced Plus course with a B grade or higher
    • Submitting qualifying TOELF, IELTS or PTE-A test scores.

EC English Language Centers (EC) 

  • EC English Language Centers is a partner of the University of Mississippi’s International Student and Scholar Services.
  • International EC applicants/students who meet the University’s academic admission requirements but not the English language proficiency requirement may apply to be conditionally admitted to an undergraduate degree program.
  • Such students may study at EC until they provide evidence of English proficiency by:
    • Submitting evidence of 80% or higher on the EC English Language Centres’ Upper Intermediate Level Test
    • Submitting qualifying TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE-A test scores.
  • Once all requirements for undergraduate study at the University have been met, students are then fully admitted and may subsequently transfer to the University.

English Language Services (ELS) 

  • ELS us a partner of the University of Mississippi’s International Student and Scholar Services.
  • International undergraduate ELS applicants/students who meet the University’s academic admission requirements but not the English language proficiency requirement may apply to be conditionally admitted to an undergraduate degree program.
  • Such students may study at ELS until they provide evidence of English language proficiency by:
    • Submitting evidence of having successfully completed ELS Level 112 Intensive English for Academic Purposes with ELS Education Services with a grade of B (3.0) or higher
    • Submitting qualifying TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE-A test scores.
  • Once all requirements for admission to undergraduate study at the University have been meet, students are then fully admitted and may subsequently transfer to the University.
