Immunization Requirements

Required Medical Forms

All students whose date of birth is after January 1, 1957 are required to submit documentation of having had two MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccinations prior to registering for university courses. The first MMR must have been given after 12 months of age and the second administered at least 1 month later. Students are strongly encouraged to have these vaccinations prior to entering the United States to avoid a delay in eligibility for course registration. MMR vaccinations are available at Student Health Services for a fee of approximately $80 per immunization.

New students will have a Student Health hold which must be cleared prior to course registration. Clearing the hold involves a visit to the university’s Student Health Services. At that time, the staff will check to make sure the University of Mississippi Medical History and Certificate of Compliance forms have been received. It is also possible to bring the completed forms with you. However, you are strongly encouraged to submit these forms prior to leaving your home country. During the Student Health Services visit, the medical staff must also perform a blood test (interferon gamma release assay) and  chest x-ray to check for active tuberculosis infection. Please note that x-rays from other countries are not accepted; however, international students who transfer from a U.S. university may present reports from x-rays that were done in the U.S. to the Student Health Services office for consideration.

Additional information as well as the Medical History and Certificate of Compliance forms can be found at Student Health Services.
